Alessandria della Rocca is a medieval village which is famous for its Mediterranean Music Festival.

The first settlement of Alessandria della Rocca was founded in 1570 by Don Carlo Barresi and later named “Alessandria della Rocca” to honour Presti Alessandro, the feudal lord of the area. The most important cultural attractions of the village are the Church of Carmine, considered the most charming Baroque church of the village, has a majestic highly decorated main entrance; the Church of S.Maria del Pilerio rises on the ruins of the old holy place dedicated to San Nicolò di Bari and is characterised by a late Renascence style; the Necropolis Sicana “Gruttiddri”, dig into the rock holds many findings dating back to the 2nd millennium BC and the late Roman period; the Necropoli Sicana “Lurdicheddra” includes lots of interesting findings from the Roman, Greek and Medieval periods; the Pietro D’Amico Castle erected by the count Pietro D’Amico in the 16th century.
