Province of Messina

Antillo is a small medieval village where visitors can discover the Ranciara Caves, an impressive complex of natural caves. 

The village of Antillo was founded in the middle age and was included in the Savoca area which was ruled by Roger I, Count of Savoca. Later it was conquered by Swabian, Angioini and the Spanish Bourbons.

The most important monuments of the village are the Campana della Pace; the Rocca Castello; the Mother Church S.Maria della Provvidenza, located in the old town centre it was completely rebuilt in 1938 on the ruins of the ancient one which was destroyed in 1770; the Agro-Pastoral museum, created in 1980 it contains some of the most important testimonies related to the ancient customs and tradition of the village.

Close to the village visitors can discover the Ranciara Caves, a complex of caverns formed after the erosion of rocks caused by the river Agrò.

From Messina

Get on A18 Messina-Catania, exit Castello di Roccalumera. Follow the SP15  and then continue on SP19, exit Antillo.

From Catania

Get on A18, exit Taormina Nord. Follow the SP15  and then continue on SP19, exit Antillo.
