Barrafranca is a medieval small village rich in cultural attractions and traditions.
The current village of Barrafranca, once named Convicino, was founded by Francesco Barresi in 1330 who erected the main buildings of the old town centre. The most important monuments of the village are the Mother Church, built on the ruins of the ancient Church of San Sebastiano, has a Latin cross plan and three naves characterised by the famous Sicilian Baroque; the Church of San Benedetto, built with one nave, includes wonderful Baroque frescos and stuccos; the Church of Maria SS della Stella is the oldest church of Barrafranca and holds stunning Neoclassical stuccos.

Get on A19, exit Caltanissetta. Take SS640 and continue on SS626 Caltanissetta – Gela – Agrigento – Pietraperzia, exit Caltanissetta-Santa Barbara-Enna-Capodarso. Take SS 560/SS560.
