Donnalucata is known for its coast, distinguished for wide beaches with fine golden sand.
Donnalucata has ancient origins and it was founded in 1091, when count Ruggero d’Altavilla defeated the Saracens, thanks to the intervention of Madonna delle Milizie, therefore they built a sanctuary with a small village surrounding it: Donna Lucata.
Today this small and charming town is known for its coast, distinguished for wide beaches with fine golden sand. Donna Lucata, close to Sciacca, is very famous for two celebrations: the Squid Festival, an excellent chance to taste freshly fished squids, prepared following traditional recipes, and the Pizza and Ibla Flavors Festival, which is born with the aim of promoting the territory, its historical and natural beauties, agriculture and craftsmanship. This small village also has two important monuments, Madonna delle Milizie and the Duomo, built in 1883 using little blocks of light calcarenite.
