Thanks to its beautiful location, Gagliano Castelferrato offers a stunning view of the island.
Gagliano Castelferrato, historically called Galaria, was founded in 1900 BC by Morgete Siculo, the King of Sicani. According to the local tradition, the village became very important under the Roman domination. The most important monuments of the village are the Mother Church of San Cataldo, built in the first years of the 14th century, is dedicated to the Patron Saint of the village and has three naves and a precious Gothic ring bell; the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, built in 1575, displays a wonderful Baroque style; the Church of Santa Maria di Gesù, built in 1657; the Rocca, is a green area which includes the Castle of Galara and the old Gothic town centre. Here it is possible to enjoy a stunning view of the valley and the coastline.
