Giardinello

Province of Palermo

Giardinello is a charming tiny village located in the province of Palermo which is well know for its marvellous old town centre.

Giardinello is located near Pizzo Montanello. Romans named this village Viridariolus, which means Garden, because this area had an extended stretches of gardens rich in citrus, wild olive and fruit trees. The most important holy places of the village are the Mother Church, dedicated to S.Anna, was built in the 17th century and the Church of Maria Santissima della Mercede, erected at the end of the 20th century.
Walking through the old town centre, you can discover the Cafè House which is a wonderful belvedere built in the second half of the 18th century; the Public Thermal Bath built in the 19th century; the Tomb of the Giant which is an ancient tomb probably dating back to the Saracen period and the Fountain of the Rinascita built in 1960 by the Sicilian sculptor Benedetto De Lisi.

From Palermo

Get on E90, follow E90 to Strada Provinciale 1bis/SP1bis in Terrasini. Take exit Montelepre from E90. Drive to SP1bis in Giardinello.
