Godrano

Province of Palermo

Godrano is an ancient village which is included in the  Nature Reserve of Bosco della Ficuzza, Rocca Busambra, Bosco del Cappelliere and Gorgo del Drago.

Godrano was inhabited by Arabs who named the first settlement like the nearest lake, Al-Gudran.  Later, in the 14th century, it achieved a great importance because it was chosen by the King Pietro I d’Aragona as his official abode. The most important cultural attractions of the village are the Tactile Museum Godranapoli which displays a massive collection of objects and works of art of the village; the Mother Church, dedicated to the Immacolata Concezione, was built in 1791.

Close to the village tourists can discover the Nature Reserve of Bosco della Ficuzza, Rocca Busambra, Bosco del Cappelliere and Gorgo del Drago.
