Montallegro is an ancient tiny village included in the wonderful Torre Salsa Nature Reserve.
Montallegro was founded in the 19th century and it was named Angiò. Thanks to its location, placed on the top of the mountain, the village hosts many villagers from the coastline escaping from the violent pirate coastline invasions.
The most important monuments are:
the Mother Church of San Leonardo; the Church of Santa Maria dell’Immacolata; Mount Suso; the Gorgo Lake is a protected area managed by LIPU (Lega Italiana Protezione Uccelli) created to preserve the rare species of migratory birds which live in this particular environment; the Torre Salsa Nature Reserve is a spectacular green area established to protect Mount Stella and its prominent vegetation.
