Montemaggiore Belsito is located in the well known “Valle del Torto” which is considered a very fertile and green area. This charming village has ancient origins highlighted by the impressive archaeological digs which have uncovered many ruins and artefacts dating back to the Roman and Arab periods. Today it is possible to visit the old town centre founded by the Norman King Roger I in the Middle Age. The most important monuments of the village are the Church of SS. Crocifisso, and the Mother Church, built in 1802 by Monsignore Teresi and dedicated to Sant’Agata, the Patron Saint of the village.
Close to the village it is possible to visit the popular Nature Reserve of Bosco della Favara e Bosco Granza.
