Paceco

Paceco has ancient origins as is evident from the presence of many artefacts dating back to the Palaeolithic and Neolithic periods.

Paceco it was founded in 1607, its name comes from Maria Pacheco, the marquess of Villena.

The territory of Paceco has ancient origins as is evident from the presence of many artefacts dating back to the Palaeolithic and Neolithic periods. In the second half of the eighteenth century the area prospered, however after a great famine the people began to revolt, taking part in the Italian Risorgimento with Garibaldi. The most important cultural attractions of the village are: the Prehistoric Museum, it holds many significant findings discovered in this area; the Mother Church of SS Crocifisso, built in 1623 it is located in the main square of Paceco; the Church of Maria SS. del Rosario; the Church of Maria Santissima di Porto Salvo and the Church of San Francesco di Paola.

Close to the village it is possible to visit the Nature Rerseve of Trapani and Paceco, established in 1995 and managed by WWF, it stretches for 1000 hectares between Trapani and Paceco. Here it is possible to discover impressive salt pans and several species of migratory birds.

Aglio Rosso di Nubia. It is a variety of garlic, characterized by intense purple color. It is cultivated in the Nature Reserve of Trapani and Paceco;
