Petralia Sottana is a tiny village located in the Province of Palermo which has a fascinating old town centre. 

Petralia Sottana is located near the Madonie Mountains. This tiny charming village offers gorgeous cultural attractions such as: the Mother Church, also known as Matrice, was built in the 9th century with a Gothic-Catalan style. The church hosts impressive works of art made by the most important Sicilian painters of the 17th century; the Church of S.Francesco d’Assisi, built in the 17th century, includes amazing Baroque frescos made by the Sicilian painter Zoppo di Gangi; the Church of Santissima Trinità built in 1531; the Church of Maria alla Fontana, built in the 17th century with a Baroque style; the Civic Museum which includes many important findings discovered in the area; the ex Convent of Frati Minori Riformati, built in the 17th century, includes the University of Palermo.
