Petrosino is a small ancient village located in the province of Trapani which is rich in monuments and traditions.
Petrosino was founded in XVI century by Spanish. It became extremely rich in the XIX century thanks to the production of the Marsala wine by John Woodhause. The most important monuments of the village are:
The Mother Church of Maria SS. delle Grazie, built in 1745 with a Roman cross plan; the Church of San Giuseppe built as private church of the marquess Spanò; the Sibiliana Tower, a watchtower built at the beginning of the 1500 with a square plan and thick walls; the Gavalga Tower, built in 1582, it dominated the countryside characterised by a well and a water trough. It was considered as a small fortress where the peasants and shepherds could take refuge.
Moreover the Ethno-antropologic Museum shows an impressive collection of objects and reproductions to display the typical traditional costumes and traditions of the village.
