Province of Messina

Pettineo is a village located in the charming province of Messina which is rich in history and traditions. It was founded in the Middle Age.

The village of Pettineo was founded in the late Middle Age and the administration of the ancient feudal town was managed by Manfredi Maletta. Like most of the nearby villages, Pettineo, was dominated by Spanish until the unification of Italy. The most important monuments of the village are the Mother Church, dedicated to Maria SS. delle Grazie, was built in the 16th century and the Church of St. Oliva, erected in the 16th century.
