San Pier Niceto

Province of Messina

San Pier Niceto is a tiny medieval village located in the wonderful Province of Messina.

The village of San Pier Niceto was founded in the 9th century AC by Saracens. Later it was conquered by Normans, Swabians, Frenchs and Aragonese. The most important monuments of the village are the Church of San Giacomo, the Cathedral of San Pietro, built in the 18th century, includes two beautiful paintings made by Nicolò Mazzagatti in 1797; the Church of San Caterina built in the 18th century.
