San Vito lo Capo, built at the end of the eighteen century, is located at the foot of the Mount Monaco, from where its famous wonderful white sandy beach begins. There are also some interesting places to visit including the Santuario, considered the icon of San Vito lo Capo it was an important holy place and also a fortress to defend the village from pirates; the Lighthouse, due to its light covering over 20 nautical miles it is considered the biggest one in the whole of Sicily; and at last the Sea Museum, born in 1997, displays a series of wrecks and lots of ruins discovered after some important archaeological digs.
