Scillato is a tiny village rich in history and cultural attractions.
Thanks to the abundance of water and fertile territories, Scillato was founded by a group of Greek farmers who moved to Sicily when Troy was completely destroyed. The most important monuments of the village are: the Church of Maria Santissima della Catena built in the 17th century; the Water Museum highlights how water has helped in the development of this tiny village; the “Asiniddaru” and the “Paraturi” mills, the first is considered a well preserved example of medieval mills built in Sicily, the second was built in the 18th century and was used to make precious fabrics.
