The first settlement of Terme Vigliatore was inhabited since the proto-historic period and after conquered by Greeks and Romans. Thanks to its impressive agricultural economic activities the current old town centre prospered in the Middle Ages. Later in 1812 the abolition of feudalism, a new agrarian bourgeoisie started the construction and the rebuilding of the village. The most important monuments of the village are the Church of Madonna delle Grazie, built on the ruins of a Benedictine monastery and a Roman Villa which is considered as one of the well preserved example of Roman luxury villa in Sicily dating back to the I and II century AC, the first centuries of the wonderful Roman Empire.
