Lombardia Castle was used as a summer home by Frederic III of Aragon.
If you are in the Enna area, don’t miss a chance to stroll around the Lombardia Castle. Built on top of a hill in a strategic position, this Norman era castle was used as a fortress for protection. Frederic III of Aragon embellished it and used it as a summer home at some point in time. Of the 20 towers that protected this castle only 6 survived but if you can manage the stairs go all the way up to the tower for more unique views. There is not much inside the castle but the view from this spot is stunning.
Walking around the castle you get a magnificent panoramic view of the Sicilian mountains. From here you can even take great photos of Mount Etna on a clear day!
