The Nature Reserve of Pantalica, Valle dell’Anapo and Torrente Cava Grande offers rare wonderful sceneries made up by woods, wild landscapes and crystal rivers.
The Nature Reserve of Pantalica, Valle dell’Anapo and Torrente Cava Grande was declared nature reserve in 1997 including the villages of Buscemi, Palazzolo Acreide, Ferla, Cassaro and Sortino. It is extended for 50 km close to the Mount Lauro where the crystal Anapo River originates.
This Nature Reserve is well known for its archaeological site such as the famous Necropoli of Pantalica (XIII century B.C), included on the Unesco World Heritage list, it is considered the most important rock settlement in Europe.
This green area offers rare wonderful sceneries made up by woods, wild landscapes, crystal rivers and prehistoric settlements, providing you an unforgettable experience. Its vegetation includes: holm oaks, oleanders, rich colonies of colourful orchids and plantain.

From Syracuse take SS124 to Strada Provinciale 52/Str. Mangiapicca/SP52, follow SS124 and Strada Provinciale 45 to Via Carceri Vecchie in Ferla. Then take Strada Regionale 11/SR11 in Sortino.
