Palazzo Riccio Morana is one of the charming aristocratic buildings of Trapani.
In 1750, Trapani was considered as one of the richest cities in Sicily and it was characterized by a series of incredible aristocrats buildings located in Rua Nova ( Via Garibaldi ). This main street was the preferred place by the nobility to build their homes displaying their money and power over citizens.
The Barons of Morana were part of one of the richest families in Trapani and in 1773 they started the renovation of Palazzo Riccio involving the famous Sicilian architect Andrea Gigante.
The building is characterised by a Neoclassical facade and is divided into three levels, culminating in a triangular pediment centre while the facade is decorated with fascinating sculptures. Today it hosts the Presidency of Trapani (Provincia di Trapani).
