San Calogero Nature Reserve

Close to the charming village of Sciacca, the Monte San Calogero Nature Reserve is 50 hectares of pure nature.

A place shrouded in ancient mystery, San Calogero Nature Reserve has many thermal baths located in its charming caves such as the stoves of San Calogero, the Cave of the Leper, Mastro Cave, the Grotta del Gallo and the Cave Cucchiara. Its vapours, still used for their therapeutic effects, are produced by incredible volcanic activities, which are also a subject of important scientific study.
The wildlife of the reserve consists of small rodents and birds such as Bonelli’s eagle (aquila del bonelli).

How to get there:
The Natural Reserve of Mount St. Calogero is located near the village of Sciacca.

By Car:
From Agrigento get on SS 115, exit Sciacca.

From Palermo take SS 624 and then SS 115, exit Sciacca.
