Serre della Pizzuta Nature Reserve includes incredible caves created by numerous karst phenomena.

The Serre della Pizzuta Nature Reserve, part of the province of Palermo, was established in 1998, and it is characterised by ancient mountain systems and incredible caves created by numerous karst phenomena. The most important caverns are the Grotta del Garrone and Grotta dello Zubbione, the first includes two small lakes with ancient ferns vegetation and the second, considered the deepest cave of Sicily, is known for its wonderful stalactites.

This reserve has a rich avifauna including Bonelli’s eagle, the golden eagle and the peregrine falcon.

How to get there:

From Palermo take the S.S. 624, exit Villagrazia, then follow the SP 5, exit Piana degli Albanesi
