St. Agata Church was created using the Sabucina stone which confers a spectacular lively red colour to the structure.

This charming St. Agata church rises on the ruins of the oldest holy place dedicated to the saint and it is characterised by the popolar Sicilian Baroque. its facade was ended in the sixteen century with the Sabucina stone (sandstone) which confers a spectacular lively red colour to the structure. The church has a Greek cross plant and its interior is completely covered by precious marbles and stuccos. The vault of the church was painted by Luigi Borremans.
Here it is also possible to visit the chapel of Sant’Ignazio Loyola, founder of the Jesuit order, and both with the church, they are considered the richest monuments of the city.
