Eraclea Minoa

Eraclea Minoa is an ancient village which has an impressive archeological sight where visitors can admire the incredible ruins from the Greek domination.

The ancient town of Eraclea Minoa was founded by the Greek family of Eraclidi in 6th century BC, on the ruins of the oldest village of Minoa. Later this tiny village was colonised by Segestiani, Cartaginesi and Romans. In 508 BC, Eraclea was conquered by Selinuntini who included the village in the colony of Akragas.

Eraclea Minoa has a very interesting Archaeological site where visitors can discover impressive findings belonged to the different colonisations of the village such as the town-walls dating back to 320-313 BC, a Paleochristian church, a Greek theatre from 4th century BC and some ruins of the ancient Greek settlement.

From Caltanissetta

Get on SS 640 and SS115 to SP 30/SP30 in Cattolica Eraclea. Take the exit towards Cattolica Eraclea from SS115. Continue on SP30.
