Baucina

Province of Palermo

Baucina is an ancient village rich in wonderful cultural attraction.

The territory of Baucina was inhabited since the Prehistoric period. The Greeks later conquered this village in 600 BC, extending the village on the top of Mount Falcone. The modern town was founded in 1642 by the Spanish King, Filippo IV.
The most important cultural attractions of the village are:
The Archaeological museum, created in 2013; The Mother Church, dedicated to Santa Rosalia, was built in 1626 by the prince Mariano III Migliaccio; The Church of Santa Maria del Lume, built in 1737 by the minister Francesco Camerata. The Church of Immacolata; The Church of Calvario, built in the second half of the 18th century; The Archaeological site of Monte Falcone and Monte Carrozza displays a well preserved necropolis dating back to the 6th century BC.

By Car

From Palermo

Get on E90 and then drive from SS121 to Villafrati. Take the exit toward Baucina/Ciminna/Ventimiglia di Sicilia and follow the SP6.
