Bompietro

Province of Palermo

Bompietro offers a series of interesting festivals and cultural attractions.

Bompietro has more modern origins dating back to the 17th century. The old town centre was built by the families of prisoners locked up in the famous large village jail.  The most important cultural attractions of the village are the Mother Church of Parrocchia SS. Apostoli Pietro e Paolo Bompietro, The Church of Calvario, the Church of Sacra Famiglia Locati and the Church of Maria Santissima del Rosario Locati.

Close to the village it is possible to visit the tiny borough of Locati founded by Spanish when they conquered a large part of the island in war of the Sicilian Vespers.
