Buseto Palizzolo

Province of Trapani

Buseto Palizzolo is a small village in the province of Trapani which includes the amazing Scorace wood.

According to local history, the village of Buseto Palizzolo dates back to a colony of farmers in the nineteen century, but it only became independent in 1950 after separating from Erice. Under the Byzantium domination in 554 AD the area was inhabited by Rumi, a particular group of Christians farmers from Erice. Due to the frequent Saracen raids they completely abandoned the area and it was not repopulated until the thirteenth century during the Swabian domination.

The Museo della civiltà locale depicts the history of this tiny village displaying many ancient objects such as farm, pastoralism and craftsmanship tools; and interesting pictures and documents describing local customs and traditions.

The main church of the village is the Duomo rebuilt in 1850 with a simple facade enriched by neoclassical decorative elements.

The Scorace wood, close to Buseto Palizzolo, offers wonderful natural paths where it is possible to relax and enjoy a beautiful belvedere.
