Montedoro is Renaissance village which is well known for its many sulphur mines.
Located in the heart of Sicily, Montedoro was founded in the 1635. Thanks to the discovery of many sulphur mines, the village became very famous and its economy increased quickly. The most important cultural attractions of the village are the Mother Church, built in 1644 and dedicated to Maria Santissima del Rosario with a fascinating Gothic- Renaissance style; the Astronomic Observatory, created in 2004, is located on the top of Mount Ottavio. This place is well known for its amazing view of the coastline framed by Etna Volcan, the Madonie Mountains and the tiny village of Milena, Casteltermini and Gibellini.
