Ragalana

Regalana is an ancient village rich in history and traditions.

The village of Ragalana was founded in 1136 by the Normans. Later in the 15^th century the village prospered under the administration of the noble family, Moncada. After a lava flow which completely destroyed the village in 1730, the survivors rebuilt the old town centre and its beautiful churches.
During the Second World War, Regalana hosted many families who escaped the bombing of allied troops in Paternò. The most important holy places of the village are the Church of Santa Barbara; the Church of Don Bosco and Madonna delle Nevi; the Church of Madonna del Carmelo, built in the 19th century with a Baroque facade and a Gothic ring bell.
Close to the village it is possible to visit the Catanese Caves which is an extended natural cave originated after the violet 1780 eruption.

Get on SS121, exit Scalilli o Ragalana or take SS284 exit Santa Maria di Licodia-Ragalana

From Palermo:

Get on A19 direzione Catania, exit Gerbini and continue to Paternò and Ragalana.
