Canicattini Bagni was founded in the first part of the XVII century when the marquess Mario Danieli had the authorisation to start building the town centre. Before the construction of the village, this area was settled by many ancient civilisations such as Byzantine, Romans, and Siculi as you can see from the several archaeological findings discovered here.
Otherwise, this charming village is well known for the impressive quantity of Art Nouveau decorations which characterised the main buildings of the old town centre.

The Church of Santa Maria Ausiliatrice, built in the second part of the eighteen century, the Baroque Church of Anime Sante del Purgatorio (1700), it was adorned with several liberty elements in 1904; the Church of Madre di Santa Maria degli Angeli, designed by the Sicilian architect Sebastiano Rizza in the first part of the 1800, shows a particular and spectacular neoclassical style.
Moreover it is possible to visit the Archaeological Museum of Memories where there is a collection of photos, books, documents and objects which holds the history of Canicattini Bagni; the Museo del Tessuto, dell’Emigrante e della Medicina Popolare, the museum displays many reproductions of the old houses and workshops of the village where it is possible to discover and understand the customs and traditions of the village.
