Capizzi is located close to the famous Nebrodi park, a wonderful green area extended over 85,000 hectares where it is possible to enjoy a stunning natural environment framed by its impressive mountains.

The village of Capizzi was founded by the Greeks and later conquered by Normans, Arabs and Byzantines. In the Middle Ages, the village was ruled by some of the most important aristocratic families on the island such as Ventimiglia, Castello, Russo and Lacarn.

The most important monuments of the village are the Church of San Giacomo, built in the 14th century; the Church of Annunziata and the Benedictines’ monastery, erected between 1432 to 1458; the Mother Church is a very ancient building dating back to the Greek and Roman periods, it has three naves and impressive Doric columns; the Church of Sant’Antonio da Padova, erected in 1623; the Church of San Bartolomeo, located in the old town centre, has a wonderful Gothic portal.

Close to the village you’ll find the Nebrodi park, a wonderful green area extended over 85,000 hectares. Here it is possible to enjoy the prominent Mediterranean vegetation framed by impressive mountains. Hiking and mountain-bike lovers can find a perfect location for their sport activities among holm oaks and cork trees or higher up through oak woods and beech forests.

Get on E90 and A20 to SS117 in Reitano. Take exit Santo Stefano di Camastra from A20/E90. Take SS113 and SP168 exit Capizzi

From Catania

Strada Provinciale 21/SP21 and Strada Provinciale 168/SP168 to Viale della Regione in Capizzi. Continue on Viale della Regione.
