Floresta is famous for the Itinerary of Tholos which is a nature and cultural path where visitors can admire over 100 stone houses dating back to the pre Greek period.
Floresta was founded in the 16th century. Later in 1619, the village prospered under the Philip II giurisdiction, becoming a very important feudal town in the area. Many important Sicilian aristocratic families ruled this tiny village such as the Ardoino, Moncada and Asmundo d’Alcontres. The most important monuments of the village are the Mother Church of Sant’Anna, built in the 19th century, includes impressive works of art made in the 1700 and the Church of Sant’Antonio is a stone church erected in 1600.
The village has an easy access to the Nebrody area where it is possible to discover the Itinerary of Tholos which is a nature and cultural path where visitors can admire over 100 stone houses (the Tholos) dating back to the pre Greek period.
