Province of Messina

Mojo Alcantara is a charming village located in the province of Messina close to the Alcantara valley.

The village of Mojo Alcantara was founded in 1602 by Palmerio Lanza who ruled the feudal town with his descendants for long time. Later in 1928, Mojo Alcantara was included in the village of Malvagna creating the village of Lanza. In 1947 the village achieved its autonomy.
The most important attractions of the village are the Santuario Maria SS. delle Grazie which hosts a precious wooden sculpture made ​​by Fra Umile di Petralia and the Mojo Volcano, located in the Alcantara valley, is 700 meters high and provides wonderful natural paths.
