Montagnareale is a village located in the charming province of Messina which is rich in history and traditions.
The village of Montagnareale has been included in the town of Patti since the Middle Age. The feudal town achieved its autonomy when Giovanni Ambrogio Scribano acquired the village in 1642. Later, Montagnareale was ruled by two important Sicilian families, the Ansatone and Vianisi.
The most important holy places of the village are the Church of Santa Caterina; the Church of San Sebastiano; the Mother Church of Maria SS delle Grazie which has a wonderful Neoclassical facade.
Close to the village it is possible to visit the Capo Mill, one of the best preserved ancient mills in the area which still works to this day. The mill also provides interesting events and festivals during summer.
