Ribera

Ribera is a medieval village with interesting cultural attractions.

The village of Ribera was founded in 1635 by a group of people coming from the village of Caltabellotta. The name of the village honours the beautiful Prince’s wife, Maria Afan de Ribera.
The most important monuments of the village are the Mother Church and the Poggiodiana Castle, built in 9^th century by Saracen, it was named Misilcassim. Here visitors can enjoy a stunning viewing of the coastline and the fascinating Valle di Verdura Gardens. In the 16^th century the name of the castle changed in Moncada to honour the noblewoman Diana Moncada.
