The Carnevale di Sciacca provides a series of events which take place on the Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday before the start of Lent.
The Carnevale di Sciacca (Carnival of Sciacca) is one of the most popular events organized in the charming village of Sciacca. The main events take place on the Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday before the start of Lent. The Carnival begins on Shrove Tuesday with the symbolic delivery of the City’s key to the Carnival Peppe Nappa, a who is an ancient character who represents the most important mask of the carnival; a man wears this mask to bring him to life. During the celebrations Peppe Nappa distributes wine and grilled sausages with his waggon, passing through the old town centre with musicians, dancers and artists.
