Realmonte is well known for the Roman Villa which is a well preserved example of ancient Roman building dating back to the 1st century BC.
Realmonte was founded in 1681 by Don Domenico Monreale. This charming tiny village includes incredible cultural attractions such as the Roman Villa which is a well preserved example of ancient Roman building dating back to the 1st century BC where visitors can discover the most important typical elements of the Domus Romana; the Monterosso Tower, built by the Viceroy Marco Antonio Colonna in 1453 as a watchtower to defend the area from the pirates invasions; the charming Scala dei Turchi beach is a natural stunning white staircase which will leads visitors into the marvels of a limpid turquoise beach. Thanks to its characteristic white cliffs, it is known as one of the most visited attractions in the entire province of Agrigento. The bay is characterised by a particular white colour that conveys an exotic look to this beach; the Salt Church, (Chiesa di Sale) is an unconventional church located in a salt mine deep 30 metres under the sea. Thanks to its incredible acoustics is considered better then the Auditorium or Opera Houses and this location offers a very unforgettable experience.

Mugliulati: bread stuffed with cauliflower, chopped pork, cheese and olives
Cuccìa: wheat and chickpea soup with milk, ricotta, chocolate and cinnamon
Coddra: flour mixed with fried sardines and olive oil
Mastazzoli: flour mixed with mulled wine and roasted almonds.
Cacateddi: Short pastry, stuffed with dried figs, almonds and cinnamon.
