Monte Capodarso and Valle dell’Imera Meridionale Nature Reserve is about 1000 hectares and includes a marvellous river environment including the gorges of Capodarso.

Monte Capodarso and Valle dell’Imera Meridionale Nature Reserve, located in the heart of Sicily between Enna and Caltanissetta, is considered one of the most beautiful naturalistic locations in the region. It is about 1000 hectares and includes a marvellous river environment including the gorges of Capodarso, the Cave of Meraviglie with lots of unexplored cavities, and the ruins of a Hellenized indigenous centre characterised by an ancient staircase carved into the rock. Moreover you can discover the Salty river, it crosses this protected area and it has been an important communication route between the coast and the interior of the island for a long period.

The natural reserve is open from:

9:00 am – 1:00 pm and from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm
