Palazzo Battaglia

Province of Ragusa

Palazzo Battaglia is considered one of the best and well preserved masterpieces of the sixteen century.

Palazzo Battaglia, one of the Unesco World Heritage Sites,  was completely redesigned in 1724 after a violent earthquake, and became even more majestic. The building is located in the ancient town of Ragusa Ibla and has two levels. The second floor exhibits a heraldic shield which includes the two important crests of the Battaglia and Giampiccolo’s families.
Its facade is considered one of the best and well preserved masterpieces of the sixteen century to be found in the southern part of Sicily.

Visiting Ragusa you can discover 18 impressive monuments included in the Unesco World Heritage Sites such as the Church of Filippo Neri, Church of Santa Maria delle Scale, the Purgatorio Church, Cathedral of San Giovanni Evangelista, etc.

  • Can you please email me a picture of the Battaglia and Giampiccolo’s family’s crest. I am myself a Battaglia family member and have viewed many different “Battaglia” family crests. I would like to see a family crest that is most accurate for my family. I would greatly appreciate a response when your time is most available.

    Thank You!
