Al Carrubo Restaurant & Pizza

Aegadian Islands/Marettimo

Al Carrubo is located just outside the village, in a panoramic position between the castle, built in the seventeenth century on the promontory of Punta Troia, and the sea. The owner and chef is Fortunata Aliotti, known as Nadia. The cuisine is typically Sicilian and its chief protagonists are the freshest locally caught fish and the herbs which abound on the island: thyme, rosemary, wild fennel. The ever-present starters are the marinated fish, caponata, parmigiana, the grilled vegetables, olives of Belice and  Sicilian cheeses.

Among the mains we recommend the pasta with aubergines, swordfish and mint, pasta with sea-urchin sauce, or the Al Carrubo pasta (a variant of Trapanese pesto enriched with thyme, swordfish and shrimp), the traditional couscous with fish soup, pasta with lobster soup. Our grilled fish is very popular, just like the fish soup, prepared a matalotta.

We also offer you traditional pizzas Trapani style, like the Rianata and one that bears the name of the restaurant topped with anchovies, fresh tomatoes, capers, onion, Primo Sale cheese, thyme, rosemary, basil and parsley.

To complete  your meal, fried cassatelle, Sicilian cassata, cannoli, almond sweets accompanied with raisin or with ancient liqueur made with essence of carob (Carrubo, in fact). The wine list includes the main labels of Trapani wines.
