The farm, which is situated in Contrada Canalotto in Leonforte in the province of Enna, showcases the peculiar characteristics of agricultural and rural construction and its location in a congenial environment was actually home to agritourism activities in the past.
It is indeed located in an interesting local context characterised by the typical agricultural landscapes of the Sicilian inland hills and the natural environment of spectacular beauty.
A spacious and idyllic panorama opens on Mount Altesina, of Enna and Calascibetta, Nicoletti Lake and the valley of the River Crisa. Peaceful and beautiful is the agricultural landscape characterised by a succession of olive groves, wheat fields, citrus groves, peach orchards, vineyards, almond orchards and pastures. A few kilometers away the horizon is enriched with large forest areas consisting of typical plants of the Mediterranean maquis. Among them, of particular interest is the Natural Reserve of Mount Altesina.
Within the immediate surroundings are the towns of Leonforte and Assoro which preserve historic centres of architectural interest. Other points of architectural and archaeological importance such as Enna, Piazza Armerina, Nicosia, Sperlinga, Morgantina and Villa Romana del Casale are found a few tens of kilometers away.
The farm boasts a large building of architectural merit with a garden and an agricultural activity, for years using organic production methods to constitute the inherent business characteristics that have allowed agritourism commission.
The Barbera family started the business in June 1994, initially undertaken timidly and then more and more consensus and determination was gained, a welcome development for the entire area, and today is a real reference point for the customers both within and outside of the district.
From the beginning, traders have targeted the development of rural areas in terms of production, using organic farming methods that guarantee the protection and improvement of the environment and allow you to obtain products of excellent quality from a cultural, natural landscape .
To this end the company’s agri-tourism activities were focused on:
– The offer of hospitality for stays in appropriate business premises to whomever wish to spend a period of rest and / or holiday in an alternative and economical way, in direct contact with nature, in a healthy and peaceful environment and a diet based of genuine products and typical and healthy products;
– Administration for consumption on the premises and the sale of meals mainly coming from the use of company products and / or those typical of the area;
-Provide meals on site and also offer hospitality;
