The Carretto Museum promotes the incredible and fascinating Sicilian’s culture and traditions.
The Carretto Museum is famous for its impressive heritage and collections. It includes an ethnographic collection with the famous ancient carts, traditional boats and farm tools; a naturalist collection which shows paleontological, malacological, entomological, ornithological and mammals materials; and an archaeological section with a series of findings uncovered all over the Island. The museum has been created with the aim to promote the impressive Sicilian’s culture. It also offers guided tours in the nearby area to connect the Museum collections and the territory, children’s workshops and educational laboratories for school.
The museum is found inside the Palazzo d’Aumale, a charming nineteenth-century building, which rises on the seafront of Terrasini. It was built by the Prince of Partanna and Don Vincenzo Grifeo the Duke of Floridia, and later acquired by the Duke of Aumale with the aim of settling a warehouses for storing his huge production of wine.
